Silent Word Ministries - Into the Silent World ... With the Silent Word - Since 1966
SWM Newsletter -- May, 2008

Silent Word Ministries, established in 1966, is a missionary - evangelistic outreach to deaf people, families and churches;  writing and printing fundamental Bible materials that can be trusted.  Our goal is to win people to Christ, to help build deaf ministries; to establish deaf ministries; to strengthen Deaf people into mature Christians with sound Bible literature.  We are a fundamental, non-profit, tax exempt ministry to the deaf.  We are unique in that we specialize in deaf ministry.

May 2008

Dear Friends,

"Praise God from Whom all blessings flow..." Praising God is exactly what we’re doing here at Silent Word Ministries. His blessings and provision are definitely "...exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think..." (Ephesians 3:20). Through these many years the Lord has done some great and mighty things here at Silent Word Ministries, and He has, through friends like you, supplied every need. We are grateful.

We are excited about the new Teaching and Training (T.N.T.) Institute the Lord has led us to establish. We plan to introduce the program in the fall of this year. The beginning program will include basic Bible doctrines and an Old and New Testament Bible survey. The lessons will be produced on DVD and made available for Deaf ministries. The teachers will be both Deaf and hearing leaders. After the basic program, there will be other electives to choose. It will be a continual program with needed studies to help in all areas of deaf ministry.

We are grateful for our 24/7 ministries of literature, tracts, missions, missionaries, Bible courses, Deaf Bible Institute, newspaper, Internet and now the T.N.T. Institute. It is exciting to see results from these many different ministries which continue twenty-four hours, seven days a week. Please visit our web site and view our new programs. We now have one Gospel tract with follow-up in 30 different languages.

Our missionaries have been busy this spring with foreign mission trips and meetings nationwide. It is exciting to be a part of this frontier ministry to the Deaf world. In 1993, after nearly 30 years of traveling in ministry, Carlene and I returned to our hometown. During these past fifteen years this unique ministry has flourished far beyond our expectations. We are grateful for a local community that responds to our worldwide needs. We are also very grateful for the SWM team God has put together and the many friends that we developed during the many years of travel. To God be the glory! It is His ministry.

Pamphlet Ministry - Many have responded to the pamphlets we include with each monthly letter. This letter is sent to supporters and friends of our missionaries and ministry. We want to be of help and a blessing in the printing ministry to local churches and friends who support our ministry. This month I have enclosed a pamphlet, "Letter of Final Intent," that has proven to be helpful to several churches. This was developed after research from funeral homes, financial advisors and just plain common sense. Comment from a pastor, "I recently conducted a funeral and the wife was at a complete loss. She did not know any of her husband’s financial planning. She did not know where to look for insurance policies, savings accounts, investments, business accounts, or the safety deposit box. I do not want to face this problem again. Please give me a handful of the Letter of Final Intent." Another pastor asked for permission to reprint the pamphlet as a ministry to his people. He stated, "Our people need this." Making final intentions known will resolve many problems and help family members during their time of loss. If you need more copies, let us know or feel free to reprint the enclosed copy for use in your ministry. (Note: The Letter of Final Intent is not a legal will but helpful information about your final intentions.)

Thank you for sacrificially giving so that we can continue to "...give ourselves to the ministry of the Word."

In "His" Name,

Ted Camp

SWM Missionaries - April Report

Praise Reports

Jon and Diane Barr helped to start a new deaf ministry in Tampa, FL. Please pray for the new workers as they develop their Sign Language skills and reach into the Deaf community with the Gospel. Rebekah Barr (daughter) graduated from Bob Jones University on May 3 with a BA degree in Biblical Counseling! She will be traveling and ministering with a Christian drama team this summer before returning to BJU in the fall for work on her Masters degree.

David and Vicki Bennett had a wonderful trip back to Brazil, renewing contact with friends and churches to whom they had previously ministered. In this short visit, they saw several decisions; two were specifically for Deaf ministry.

Jim and Terry Bracelin preached and taught Sign Language in Dover, Pennsylvania. Four people were saved. Allen Snare joined them for a Deaf Day in Clinton, Maryland. They had a great meeting, with 35 people in attendance, and one Deaf teenager accepting Christ as Savior! In family news, Amanda's (daughter) basketball team won the KCEA State Championship for Pennsylvania. She was named to the all-tournament team!

Reed and Donna Condra ministered at the Fantastic Saturday in Rock Hill, SC. This is one of few meetings that has several Deaf children and teenagers. What a blessing to be able to influence this next generation for Christ! Reed also represented SWM at a Bible Conference in Powell, Tennessee, and gave a ministry update at a supporting church in Dandridge, Tennessee.

Mike Green preached for a missions conference in Mason, Ohio, and a Deaf Sunday in Bristol, Virginia.

Marcie Rosales has received a blessing from visiting in several local churches for regular services, a missions conference, and a revival. She is also excited that her van is finally paid off!

Allen Snare recently preached a Deaf Rally in Acworth, Georgia. One person made a salvation decision. This makes a total of nine Deaf saved in his spring meetings. Allen's son, Justin, is graduating from Harvest Christian Academy for the Deaf on May 18. Congratulations to Justin!

Paul and Rachel Strosnider had a missionary to the Philippines recently come and challenge the Deaf church for foreign missions. Also, Rachel is finishing another semester of Sign Language training. She has one more year of training before graduation.

Prayer Requests

Jon and Diane Barr will represent SWM with a display table of ministry and Sign Language materials at a Silent Weekend in FL. Jon will also teach several hours of workshops there. This is a great opportunity to influence many interpreters for Christ and to get helpful materials into their hands.

Jim and Terry Bracelin ask for prayer for God's wisdom and power in their upcoming meetings. They will be conducting a Fantastic Saturday in Long Island, NY, speaking at a Deaf Camp in Western NY, and teaching Sign Language via satellite with Virginia Baptist College.

Mike and Kim Green will soon have a meeting in Long Island, NY. Please pray for their safety and for people to make decisions for the Lord. Please also remember an unspoken prayer request for Kim's sister and brother-in-law.

Marcie Rosales is planning her Bolivia missions trip. The remaining need is $1,250. Your gifts for this can be sent to SWM, designated Rosales - Bolivia. Marcie also requests prayer for her children - David, Ben, and Monica.

Allen Snare will be preaching for seven weeks of Deaf Camp at the Bill Rice Ranch in Tennessee. Please pray for this wonderful opportunity to reach many Deaf people who have never heard the Gospel clearly explained. He is also preparing for a September missions trip to Africa. The need is $4,000 - $5,000 for the trip. If the Lord would have you help, please designate your gift to Snare - Africa.

Paul and Rachel Strosnider and Ephraim Baptist Church for the Deaf will be celebrating the church's third year anniversary in June. Please pray for the planning of the special weekend and for many Deaf visitors to attend. Please pray also for the family of Vincent Simmons, a church member who recently passed away.

SWM Missionaries needing more support: Jon Barr, David Bennett, Jim Bracelin, Nicole Condra, Reed Condra, Mike Green, David Harrison, Marcie Rosales, Paul Strosnider, and Bill Towner.
