Dear Friends,
“Blessed be
the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits,
even
the God of our salvation” --Psalm 68:19.
“Bless
the LORD, O my soul, and forget not
all
his benefits”--Psalm 103:2.
“In
every thing give thanks: for this is the
will
of God in Christ Jesus...”
--I
Thessalonians 5:18.
At this
special time of the year, we here at Silent Word Ministries pause and give thanks
for all the benefits the Lord daily gives.
We are fully aware that “Every good and every perfect gift is
from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no
variableness neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). We are also
fully aware that the Father uses people like you to channel these
gifts. “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed
down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your
bosom...” (Luke 6:38). I have been teaching our people to “think”
and “thank.” In Sign Language they put their right index on their
forehead to sign “think.” Next they make the sign “thanks.”
Then they give a testimony from their thinking and thanking.
Right now you should try it! Sign “think.” Next sign “thank.”
Now tell the Lord and others of your “thinking” and “thanking.”
You will be glad you did, and so will the Lord and others. Thank you for
allowing God to use you to bless us.
Well, the
economy is unstable, gas prices are out of control, politics are political,
debates seem redundant, congress seems confused, the senate is not stable,
but in the midst of all this “God is good.” When things are good, God is
good. When things are bad, God is still good. In these changing times, it
is good to have an unchangeable God. “For I am the Lord, I change
not” (Malachi 3:6). I am teaching our Sunday school class the
following phrase. I state, “God is good.” They respond, “all the
time.” I then state, “All the time.” They respond, “God is
good.” During these troubled days, don’t look down but look up. God is in control and works all things
for our good (Romans 8:28). One elderly saint said, “Well, I am going to
sleep and stop worrying. There is no need for both God and me to stay up.”
While you sleep He is still working His eyes never close. His ears always
hear. His arms are always open. I
have learned that it is not what happens to me, but what happens in
me that makes the difference. Well,
forgive me for being tenderhearted in my old age. I am just grateful and
thankful to be back active in the ministry and able to write this letter.
The final health report stated my cancer was contained within my prostate
and there were no other traces in my body.
I am thankful for new technology.

News Flash - In January 2009 we will be expanding
our ministry with the Dade Baptist Bible Institute. The chapel and
classes were built in the last building program. God has also given us
two local qualified men to direct it. Mickey Schrimshire is the
director and Kirby Hill is his assistant. I am thankful we are
able to return to the community that has given so much to us. We will conduct free helpful
community programs with workshops and seminars. We will also open the first
Bible Institute program in our county for those desiring to teach,
preach, and better serve the Lord.

God continues to greatly bless the work of
the team He has brought together at Silent Word Ministries. This year we have had 303 reports
of salvation. God is good, all the time! All the time,
God is good! Again, we offer our thanksgiving to you whose
giving makes it possible for us to “give ourselves to the ministry of
the Word.”
Gratefully,

SWM Missionaries - Report
Praise Reports
Jon and Diane Barr had their first Deaf Day of this fall in
Atlanta, GA. There were two
salvation decisions! One was from a
Deaf man who had been baptized and was very faithful to church, but he had
not understood what is meant to accept Christ for salvation. The other was from a Deaf lady who
thought she had been saved, but was struggling with doubts. Praise the Lord she now knows she
is saved.
David and Vicki Bennett recently received a thank-you e-mail from
a man in Brazil who had started an independent Baptist church there. The Bennetts had influenced his life
through the discipleship of his mother many years ago. What a blessing to hear of “fruit that
remains.” They also praise the Lord
for a new supporting church and a gift to cover the flight to Taiwan for a
survey trip for the Deaf Olympic Outreach in 2009.
Jim and Terry Bracelin had three Deaf people saved at Baltimore
Inner Harbor. There were also three
saved and fourteen other decisions at the Fantastic Saturday they conducted
in Southington, CT.
Reed and Donna Condra preached and gave an update of their
ministry to a supporting churches in TN.
Reed also taught on “How to Have a Heart for Ministry” at the
Atlanta Deaf Day.
Mike and Kim Green had a good Deaf Revival in Milwaukee,
WI. Eighty people came for their Big
Day Saturday, and three people accepted Christ as Savior. Many others made decisions to get right
with God. Kim recently spoke at the
Deaf Baptist Ladies Retreat, and one Deaf lady professed salvation.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider report that both Larry and his daughter
followed the Lord in baptism!
Thank you for praying for the Deaf
Baptist Ladies Retreat! The services, workshops, lunch cruise,
and fellowship were a great blessing and encouragement to the
record-breaking group (229 registered) of ladies who attended. We praise the Lord also for the one who
was saved! We were all
“Loaded with Blessings.”
Prayer Requests
Jon and Diane Barr will be
involved in a college missions emphasis week in SC, and then will conduct 5
Fantastic Saturdays / Deaf Days - in Ohio and Pennsylvania, two in
Virginia, and a first-time one in Wisconsin.
David and Vicki Bennett ask you to
pray for the personal contact in the city of Taipei with whom they
can work during the Deaf Olympic Outreach.
Please also pray often for their daughter Bethany, who will be
leaving soon for a five-month missions trip to Brazil.
Jim and Terry Bracelin request prayer for safety in travels and for God’s
power as they have many meetings these next six weeks. They will be conducting Fantastic
Saturdays in Michigan, New Hampshire, and New Jersey; a Deaf Day in
Pennsylvania; and Sunday School and soul-winning workshops in Pennsylvania. They will also be involved in a missions
conference in New York.
Reed and Donna Condra request prayer for Rachel, a “Mission Temp” who is
currently living with them and helping in their meetings. She has a good background in local
ministry and missions, and has added her music and testimony to their
recent meetings in Tennessee and Michigan.
Mike and Kim Green’s van fund is slowly growing. Please pray for the additional funds to
replace their current van which has over 245,000 miles on it.
Paul and Rachel Strosnider are praying for more contacts with Deaf people in
their community.
SWM is
in need of someone to help with filming
and editing videos. Please
pray for the right person to volunteer to help.
SWM Missionaries needing more support: Jon Barr,
David Bennett, Jim Bracelin, Nicole Condra, Reed Condra, Mike Green, David
Harrison, Marcie Rosales, Paul Strosnider, and Bill Towner.
