Dear Supporters:

We just completed our annual "Mission Retreat." This is an annual event when all our people come together for fellowship, learning and planning for the future. In one of our sessions we learned the value of "Building a Network of Friends and Supporters." There are times that certain people connect for a lifetime. God also favors us with seasonal friends who were and will be "there" to share in our lives. We may not see one another often but we remain friends because we shared a special moment together. Who are your seasonal friends? Recognize and be grateful for your friends and supporters who make your ministry possible. Build a network of friends. Stay in contact with them. Who are you network friends? At one time, Paul said, "Only Luke is with me" (II Timothy 4:11). Who are your Lukes? I often state that everyone needs three special friends: 1. A Paul as a mentor. 2. A Luke who is always with you. 3. A Timothy in whom you can invest your life. One of your most valuable assets is your network friends. Your network of friends will be "there" when you need them and you will be "there" when they need you. God gives you a network of friends just when and as you need them.

Build a Network of Friends

1. Identify your network friends.
2. Make a list of them.
3. Stay connected with them.
4. Be grateful for them.
5. Review your list from time to time.
6. Pray for them.
7. Make contact with them.

It is God’s program to use people to help people. Be grateful for friends who make your ministry possible. Remember, God’s only interest is people. Don’t love things but love people.

You are a vital and valuable part of our network of friends. Thank you for giving so that we can give ourselves to the ministry of the Word... especially to the Deaf.

When you connect with people,

They will connect with you.

It seems it always takes a crisis in this frail life of ours to make us reach out for each other and see who our friends really are.

Fall brings our Fantastic Saturdays and D-Days. Pray especially for Jon Barr and Jim Bracelin as they conduct these needed meetings in several major cities. Our missionaries are also busy with their fall meetings and mission trips. (Review below). They are worthy of your prayers and support.

SWM Office Need: New master computer for Ted Camp. Present computer not sufficient with memory to meet current needs. Need $550 - Please designate gift for SWM Office Computer.

Ted Camp Health Report - I have been diagnosed with early prostate cancer. Several tests confirmed that it is confined within the prostate. I am scheduled for robotic surgery on Thursday, September 4, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. My surgeon, Dr. Foley, has performed 147 prostate robotic operations. Most patients return home in two days. Hopefully, in a few weeks, I should be active again at the office. You will be advised of my progress in our next letter. Thanks for your cares and prayers.

SWM Missionaries - Report

Praise Reports

Jon and Diane Barr praise the Lord for the funds received for a new video projector! It will soon be in use in the fall meetings. Thanks to those who gave. Also, Rebekah reports three people saved through her team’s drama presentations this summer.

The Barrs, Bracelins, Greens, and Bruce and Vicki Kelly (SWM Team Members) preached and taught for the NE Deaf Bible Conference and ASLI in New York. Eleven campers professed salvation, and many other decisions were made. Much instruction was also given to Deaf workers to aid them in improving their ministry with the Deaf.

David and Vicki Bennett praise the Lord for a successful and encouraging SWM International Board meeting. David also recently finished preaching a DVD series for the Deaf on the Doctrine of Angels.

Jim and Terry Bracelin and Mike and Kim Green preached for a Deaf Revival and a Deaf Day in Massachusetts. One Deaf boy got assurance of his salvation. The Greens enjoyed ministering with the Bracelins in the Northeast where they found several open doors of opportunity.

David and Cathy Harrison report a wonderful trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, for a Congress on Hearing Loss. A highlight of the trip was David’s leading a man to the Lord while watching a game of cricket. While there David also conducted a witnessing seminar in a Baptist church.

Marcie Rosales and Cathy Harrison led five people to the Lord recently through personal evangelism on the streets and in people’s homes.

Allen Snare reports sixteen more saved through weeks 4 and 5 of summer Deaf camps at the Bill Rice Ranch!

Paul and Rachel Strosnider praise the Lord for Larry’s salvation. Pray now for spiritual growth in his new life as a Christian.

Prayer Requests

Jon and Diane Barr will conduct a Deaf Bible Weekend in San Antonio, Texas. Please pray for many Deaf to come out for the meetings and to respond to the preaching. The fall Fantastic Saturdays also start in September, with the first one being in the Atlanta area.

David and Vicki Bennett will soon be representing SWMI in several Bible colleges. There they will challenge students with the need of reaching Deaf people worldwide. David is also planning missions trips to South Africa, India, Nepal, and the 2009 Deaf Olympics in Taiwan. Please pray for decisions being made, finances needed, other team members to join, and hearts of people there to be prepared to receive the Gospel.

Mike and Kim Green will soon be preaching for a Deaf revival in Wisconsin and a Deaf Rally in Pennsylvania. Plans are also being made for a January missions trip to Trinidad. Also, Mike and Kim’s van now has over 245,000 miles on it. They are raising funds for a reliable vehicle for ministry travel. Please designate gifts - Green’s Van.

David and Cathy Harrison will teach more Lip Reading sessions in September.

Allen Snare’s South Africa trip has been rescheduled to 2009. Please continue to pray for, and considering giving to, the needed funds for this trip ($4,000 - $5,000). Allen also has several other foreign missions trips planned for 2009.

Paul and Rachel Strosnider request prayer for wisdom in buying a house.

SWM is in need of someone to help with filming and editing videos. Please pray for the right person or missionary to come and help.

Dear Friends,

Summertime greetings from Silent Word Ministries in Trenton, Georgia!

This morning as I drove up to the office and saw the land and buildings, I paused again and thanked God for all He has given us. It has been a great blessing for Carlene and me, after being gone for thirty years, to return and have a ministry in our hometown. Trenton is where Carlene and I attended high school, dated, married, and began our ministry.

Today, we realize more than ever the leading of God to return to Trenton. It is here that a friend gave the land for the ministry. It is here that area volunteer teams built our three different buildings. It is here that friends and supporters nationwide provided for the ministry. It is here that the ministry is debt free and growing beyond our expectations. It is here that other missionaries became a part of our team. It is here that our many different ministries are head-quartered. It is here that we are now preparing for a new Teaching and Training Institute. It is here that God has provided for our every need in the ministry. Today, as I look back and reminisce, I feel that perhaps this ministry would not have been possible in any other place. God directed Elijah to the brook, "and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there" (I Kings 17:3). It was important for Elijah to be "there." Notice also that "there" is used several times. God directed Paul to Philippi and not Asia (Acts 16:6-7). I feel that the Lord also directed us to this place. I am so glad that we followed His paths. "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). I am grateful that we are "there" - "here."

We’ve just finished our Trenton annual "American Sign Language Institute (ASLI)" led by Jon Barr and the SWM team. It was a really good conference with 105 in attendance from nine states. The SWM team will travel next to New York to conduct a camp for the Deaf as well as our annual Northeast ASLI, July 21 - 26. Missionary Jim Bracelin will conduct the camp and host the conference.

Pray for our Annual SWM Retreat, August 13-16, at Ft. Bluff Christian Camp in Dayton, Tennessee. This year we have three new families attending. They are considering joining our SWM team. This is always an exciting time for our missionary families to come together for fellowship, training and planning for the coming year. Our theme verses are, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Our mission board continues to flourish with a team that shares the same love and burden for reaching Deaf people. It is amazing to see the Lord using ordinary people who specialize in the unique ministry to the Deaf. As of July 15, we have had 121 professions of salvation from our many areas of ministry.

Thank you for your support and prayers which enable us to "give ourselves to the ministry of the Word."

SWM Missionaries - Report

Praise Reports

Jon and Diane Barr represented Silent Word Ministries at the 29th Annual "World’s Largest" Silent Weekend in Orlando, Florida. Jon presented nine hours of workshops (most ministry interpreting related). The Barrs also made available many of the SWM Christian materials to help these workers become more effective in their local Deaf ministries.

Jim and Terry Bracelin are praising the Lord for the 130 they have seen saved so far in 2008! Recently five were saved during a Fantastic Saturday in New York, and eleven more were saved the next day in the morning services. Amanda led a girl to Christ in the home church’s youth camp. They also taught Sign Language via satellite for Virginia Baptist College. About 20 students from four different states attended. God continues to open doors for ministry and to give safety in travel.

Mike and Kim Green led the Deaf Bible Conference associated with the ASL Institute in Georgia. Twenty-four Deaf people enjoyed the conference and learned to "Stand Strong for God."

Marcie Rosales was involved with a missions conference in Alabama and updated some supporting churches in Georgia and Michigan on her ministry.

Allen Snare has been preaching for Deaf camp weeks at the Bill Rice Ranch. Through the third week, there had be 25 Deaf campers saved! His son, Justin, learned more about missions through a recent missions trip to Mexico.

Paul and Rachel Strosnider praise the Lord for a great Third Year Anniversary for Ephraim Baptist Church for the Deaf. Reed and Donna Condra helped with the special anniversary events.

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world,

and preach the gospel to every creature"

-- Mark 16:15.

Prayer Requests

Jon and Diane Barr will in Texas for a special Deaf weekend in September. Please pray that Deaf people will saved and surrender to serve the Lord during this time. Pray also for Rebekah as she completes her summer ministry with the Academy of Arts Christian drama team. They have already seen the Lord work through the many presentations of "Creation, Evolution, & The Flood." She and Joshua will both head back to college in August.

Jim and Terry Bracelin will soon conduct revival meetings and a Deaf Day in Massachusetts. Pray for their travel safety and wisdom as they go to the SWM International board meeting and the SWM annual retreat. They will also help with a Deaf and Family camp in Pennsylvania in August. They request prayers for Amanda as she makes future decisions in her senior year of high school.

Mike and Kim Green will be assisting the Bracelins with the revival and Deaf Day in Massachusetts. Pray for these Northeast meeting.

Allen Snare is preaching at the Bill Rice Ranch. In August he will preach for a Deaf camp in Pennsylvania. Also Allen plans to go on a missions trip in September to Africa. The financial need for this trip is $4,000 - $5,000. Please consider helping him on this mission trip. You can send gifts to SWM, designated Snare - Africa.

Ted and Carlene Camp - Please pray for Ted at this time as he is having special medical tests concerning an ongoing prostate problem. You will be updated with the results in our next letter.

SWM Newsletter -- July, 2008

Dear Friends,

Now that schools are out, the weather is hot, and people are looking forward to vacations, I am reminded that the ministry here never takes a vacation. Nine times in the Bible the words "summer fruits" are used. Summer is a busy and fruitful time around Silent Word Ministries. We are grateful for friends like you, whose support helps us reach into the Deaf world throughout the year.

Go Where No Missionary Has Gone Before -- This week we received a letter from a Deaf man incarcerated in a Missouri prison. He has gotten saved and is avidly studying his Bible. He has graduated from SWM’s Deaf Bible Institute and is looking for additional correspondence Bible training. Also, an e-mail arrived from a chaplain in another prison in Missouri, requesting help learning sign language so he can teach the Deaf prisoners there. We were glad to send study materials for both of these men. Your gifts are helping people like this get the training they need.

Teaching and Training (T.N.T.) Institute - The T.N.T. is a correspondence program using books and DVDs to teach the Bible and practical ministry skills. This much-needed ministry will help Deaf people and deaf ministry workers worldwide. These courses can go where no missionary is able to go. Now under development are courses for Bible doctrines and a survey of the Old and New Testaments. One course is ready to print and has already been filmed. Others are nearing completion. Teachers include SWM missionaries Ted Camp, Jim Bracelin, David Bennett, Reed Condra, and me. Deaf Pastor David Mason from Columbus, Ohio, has also agreed to teach. The Upper Room is now finished, and it will be used for lodging for T.N.T. annual meetings and other SWM events. Your gifts are helping make all of this possible.

New Bible Atlas for the Deaf - For several months Ted camp has been working hard on a new Bible atlas for the Deaf. He is excited it is almost done and ready to print. It is filled with pictures, outlines, lists, charts, graphs, and much more, and will be the largest manual at SWM! Supporting SWM helps get good Bible materials to Deaf people.

Summer Meetings - This summer SWM missionaries will conduct American Sign Language Institute (ASLI) and Deaf Bible Conferences in NY and GA, preach in deaf camps and retreats, present their ministries in churches, and much more. Your support helps us "go into all the [Deaf] world."

New Van - Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church in Trenton, GA, for recently donating a cargo van. This will greatly help with transporting the Silent Word Newspaper and with many other chores around SWM.

Salvation Decisions - To date there have been 72 salvation decisions through all areas of our ministry. Our goal is to reach and to teach Deaf people with the Gospel. Your investment in SWM helps accomplish the Great Commission with the Deaf world.

As you can see, summer is a busy time at SWM. We realize it is through your sacrifice and prayer that our unique missionary ministry is possible. Thank you for partnering with us to reach Deaf people for Christ!

SWM Missionaries - April Report

Praise Reports

Jon and Diane Barr are praising the Lord for a new supporting church! Also Jon has been teaching several students from Harvest Deaf College in Ringgold, Georgia about starting a Deaf ministry.

David Bennett just finished filming a doctrinal class for Deaf people. The subject is Angels, Demons, and the Devil. This is one of several classes being prepared for SWM's Teaching and Training Institute. Also, Samuel Ngumthawn, whom David trained for Deaf ministry in India, has been able to minister to many people in Myanmar after the cyclone.

Reed and Donna Condra's son, Ben, and the "M" Battery Marines in Iraq are always tired from their very busy schedule, but they are safe and well.

Mike Green preached the Gospel at the Fantastic Saturday in East Northport, NY. It was a blessing to see five Deaf people accept Jesus as Savior!

David and Cathy Harrison invite you to visit their new website - www.lipreadingacademy.com. They have been teaching lipreading, visiting many new churches in the area, and attending meetings concerning people with a hearing loss.

Marcie Rosales is praising the Lord for a rent-to-own home in the Trenton area, and also a reliable and economical car. Her old van gave up the ghost.

Allen Snare had one person saved in his meeting in Clinton, MD. Also, this summer he is preaching several weeks of deaf camp at the Bill Rice Ranch. There were 4 Deaf saved in the first week.

Paul and Rachel Strosnider saw the Lord bless through the recent revival meetings with Dr. Bob Shelton at their Deaf church in Missouri. One person surrendered for service.

Bill and Eleanor Towner had 13 saved through their field evangelism in the month of May! Please pray for his three areas of ministries: Building construction, field evangelism and Deaf Bible Institute program.

Prayer Requests

Jon and Diane Barr will teach and train in the ASL Institutes in GA and NY in July. Please pray for the Lord to bring many who will learn ASL principles to improve their skills and their ministry. Pray also that souls will be saved at these meetings.

David Bennett is to teach a Deaf Leadership Conference in South Africa in September. Please pray for funds regarding this ministry trip. He plans also to help start a one-year Internship Program for missionary church planters this fall. Pray for wisdom and direction. Continue to pray also for Christa (daughter) who is in Brazil helping a newly - planted church with children's classes, visitation, and music program.

Mike and Kim Green ask your prayers for Kim's parents who are having health problems. Please pray also for Mike and Kim as they lead the Deaf Bible Conferences in GA and NY. Pray that Deaf people will learn to "Stand Strong for God."

David and Cathy Harrison plan to attend the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People in Vancouver, British Columbia, in July. They will witness and share the Gospel through field evangelism with literature distribution. Pray they will also learn more knowledge in reaching their mission field of hard-of-hearing people.

Allen Snare needs your prayers for his busy schedule of summer camps for the Deaf. He is preparing for a missions trip to South Africa in September. Please pray for the needed funds and for the Lord's working in hearts of people there.
